Tsunami rehabilitation effort in the press.

Following the catastrophic tsunami in Asia the death toll keeps rising and people are facing severe shortages of food, shelter, and clothing. Many children have been orphaned and have no one to take care of them. View this as a great opportunity to extend help and practice generosity.

One of the issues that always concern us is whether or not our contributions reach those who are suffering. Therefore the Prajnopaya Foundation has formed an alliance with the Sri Bodhiraja Foundation in Sri Lanka to collect funds for construction of 1,000 houses for the poor population in the villages, regardless of their religious affiliation or ethnic background. This collaborative effort has already raised about US $200,000. Please consider sponsoring the construction of a house (US $3,400) or part of one. The prices for construction have gone up from its initial cost of US $1,200 due to a more than 200% increase in the cost of construciton materials and contractors, reflecting the demand in a post-tsunami Sri Lanka. You can also donate funds for food for the victims. We have been informed that, at this point, people have received ample clothing.

A board of directors representing various religious traditions has been appointed to supervise and monitor the efficiency of the Foundation's work. This board is also responsible for regular development reports. Be assured that every dollar of your contribution is benefiting the victims directly. To this date we have built 550 plus houses in various Tsunami affected regions in Sri Lanka . Prajnopaya is also planning on some collaboration to build schools and community centers which are much needed in an island torn apart due to continuing civil war to top the disaster caused by Tsunami.
